ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — A 29-year-old man died after he exited a pickup involved in a rollover and then was struck by a car in southern Utah.
The Utah Highway Patrol says Lazaro Longinos-Perez died at a hospital on Saturday, a day after his involvement in successive accidents on Utah Route 18 near St. George.
The UHP says he was a passenger in a pickup that went out of control after it hit a patch of slush from a hailstorm, left the roadway and rolled. After getting out of the pickup, he was struck by a car after it ran over the same slushy area.
The pickup was driven by his father, 46-year-old Lorenzo Longinos-Perez, who was hit by the car at the same time. He was taken to the hospital with a broken leg and pelvis.
Two people in the car escaped injury.
