THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Nicholls State University has interviewed three candidates for its provost position.

Lynn Gillette, former president of Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village, Nevada, interviewed first Thursday, followed by Carol Blackshire-Belay, former interim provost of Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado.

Nicholls Arts and Sciences Dean John Doucet interviewed for the job Wednesday.

Todd Keller, chairman of the search committee, tells The Daily Comet (http://bit.ly/1FcDoRa) the committee will rank the three finalists and send its results to Nicholls President Bruce Murphy in about two weeks with the expectation the new provost will start on July 1.

The provost is an amended version of the vice president for academic affairs position last held full-time by Laynie Barilleaux who retired in August.
