CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A group of conservative Nevada Republicans is proposing an alternative to Gov. Brian Sandoval's budget that they claim wouldn't raise taxes. Assemblyman Jim Wheeler and state Controller Ron Knecht presented their alternative budget plan to the Assembly Taxation Committee today. Wheeler said the plan is a work in progress but suggested that it could be introduced as an emergency measure or amended into an existing bill.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The former chief of the disbanded Las Vegas Township constable office is due before a local judge tomorrow after being accused of misdemeanor domestic battery and coercion. John Bonaventura's attorney is expected to ask a justice of the peace to withdraw the warrant on a case that was sealed when it was filed last week.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say a motorist accused of plowing into three workers and a water district truck at a work zone near downtown Las Vegas was trying to elude patrol officers, and will face felony DUI charges. Police say the driver Jeanne Anguiano and two workers were hospitalized in serious condition after the crash early this morning.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Three shows into her Las Vegas residency, Mariah Carey says bronchitis caused her to cancel a show last night at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. A representative for Carey confirmed today that a doctor diagnosed the pop icon with bronchitis. The singer is expected back on stage Saturday and Sunday and will still perform Sunday at the Billboard Music Awards.
