LONDON (AP) — British defense officials say two British fighter jets have escorted Russian bombers away from British airspace.
UK defense officials said Thursday the Russian bombers never entered British airspace. Two Typhoon fighter jets were scrambled to lead the Russian Bear aircraft away from Britain.
These incidents have become more frequent in the last year as tensions between western Europe and Russia have risen because of Russia's involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.
