IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — The University of Iowa says longtime senior athletics administrator Fred Mims is set to retire.

Mims, who played basketball and baseball at Iowa, has spent more than 30 years working for the Hawkeyes.

Mims joined Iowa's athletic department after spending four seasons with the Houston Astros. Mims assisted in the hiring of football coach Kirk Ferentz, basketball coach Fran McCaffery and wrestling coach Tom Brands.

Mims has most recently been in charge of student-athlete affairs.

The athletic department announced Wednesday that Mims will leave his post on June 30.
