OAKDALE, Minn. (AP) — Two teens could be criminally charged after a loaded handgun was recovered at a suburban Twin Cities high school.
Oakdale police were called to Tartan Senior High School Monday after someone reported seeing a student with a gun. The school's liaison officer found a holstered handgun in a student's backpack. The 16-year-old boy said he had gotten the gun from another 16-year-old boy at school.
Police say the student who brought the gun to school told officers he planned to let his friend hold the gun and wanted to show it off. Authorities say there were no threats of violence.
KSTP-TV (http://bit.ly/1cwc4mV ) reports police are recommending felony charges against the boys for having a gun on school property.
