COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A pair of proposed gun laws would expand concealed weapons in Ohio by potentially allowing them in places such as churches or day cares.
One bill was introduced by Rep. Ron Maag (mag), a Republican from Lebanon in southwest Ohio. That measure would allow concealed weapons in churches, day cares and colleges and universities as long as written authorization permitting the concealed carry of handguns is in place.
A related bill by Republican Rep. Anne Gonzales relates specifically to carrying concealed weapons in school zones. Gonzales is from the Columbus suburb of Westerville.
The House State Government Committee heard testimony from bill supporters on Wednesday afternoon.
A third bill letting certain gun owners carry concealed weapons without a permit was removed from the committee's agenda for the hearing.
