BEIJING (AP) — Ten workers were killed after a retaining wall under construction suddenly collapsed in the eastern province of Shandong, authorities said Sunday.
Six people were killed on the spot, and four others died in the hospital, according to a statement posted on the Lanling municipal government's website. Three others were in stable condition.
Police were investigating the collapse that took place Saturday on the ground of a local transportation company, the statement said.
Work safety incidents are common in China, where regulations and procedures are routinely ignored.
