CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers are reviewing a broad-ranging sex crime bill that would criminalize so-called "revenge porn." Senators reviewed AB49 on Friday in the Senate Judiciary Committee. The bill would make it a felony to post explicit photos on a website with the intent to harass or terrorize someone. Supporters say 17 other states prohibit jilted lovers and hackers from posting explicit photos online without permission.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Lawmakers have voted down a bill allowing for ride-hailing companies such as Uber in Nevada that was projected to raise up to $100 million over the next two years. Senators voted 13-7 on Friday against AB175, which would create regulations for so-called "transportation network companies" that allow people to hail a ride using a smartphone. Democratic "no" votes pushed the bill short of a two-thirds majority needed to pass.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada Athletic Commissioner Bill D. Brady is resigning from the board that regulates the state's boxing industry. The Las Vegas man sent a resignation letter to Gov. Brian Sandoval this week saying his departure was effective immediately. Brady is leaving the five-person commission with a year remaining on his third term.
ELKO, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Cattlemen's Association and others have upped the reward in the search for suspects who've been shooting dozens of cattle in northern Nevada after another one was found dead last weekend in Elko County near Wildhorse Reservoir. Nevada Department of Agriculture officials announced this week that the reward now stands at $28,700 in the investigation of 61 cattle that were shot over the past three years, including 11 that died.
