CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Bill language that would allow for ride-hailing companies such as Uber in Nevada is back after a similar proposal failed a state Senate vote last month. Senators agreed today to remove a proposed 25-cent-per-ride surcharge, and instead places a 3 percent tax on the total fare for rides through a cab company or a ride-hailing company.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Michael Roberson said he expects lawmakers will find enough money to give the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' planned medical school all the money it's asking for. The Republican senator said he predicts the Legislature will identify another $19 million for the proposed school before the session ends.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers are vetting a bill that would create a regulatory framework for drones and seeks to protect privacy. The measure would clarify existing law and creates new regulations on how police agencies and public citizens can fly unmanned aerial vehicles, also known as drones.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A Nevada Assembly committee has passed a bill requiring laboratories to put dogs and cats up for adoption when they're done performing research on them. The bill sponsored by Democratic Sen. Mark Manendo requires labs to offer animals up for adoption before euthanizing them as long as they are healthy enough to go to a new home.
