New York/London (dpa) - Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti underwent surgery last week for pancreatic cancer, his manager said in London Friday.
The manager, Terri Robson, said Pavarotti, 70, "is recovering well."
The singer was about to leave New York last week to continue a farewell world concert tour in Britain when doctors discovered the malignant tumour, she added.
All concerts for the remainder of 2006, scheduled for Finland, Norway, Austria, Switzerland and Portugal, have been cancelled and it is hoped that the singer can resume his concerts in 2007.
Pavarotti is still in hospital in New York.
