BALTIMORE (AP) — A Maryland police officer has been suspended after being accused of biting another man's testicles during a fight outside a bar while he was off-duty on Cinco de Mayo.

Anne Arundel County police say 31-year-old Cpl. Michael Flaig was arrested Tuesday in Baltimore. Police in the city say the victim accused Flaig, who was off-duty, of groping his female roommate. Flaig is charged with second-degree assault and public intoxication.

Police told local news outlets that during the fight, the victim straddled Flaig to keep him from getting away and Flaig bit his testicles.

County police spokesman T.J. Smith says Flaig's police powers have been suspended and he has been placed on paid administrative duties. Flaig didn't have an attorney listed in online court records.
