EDINA, Minn. (AP) — Voters have given the green light for the Edina school district to borrow $125 million to modernize classrooms and expand the high school.
The Star Tribune (http://strib.mn/1FP3Hih ) reports unofficial results from Tuesday's election show 57 percent of voters from the Twin Cities suburb approved of the bond proposal.
Most of the money would go toward classroom renovations that would add movable furniture, common workspaces and movable partitions. Many teachers in the Edina district had said this would increase student collaboration, but a group organized in opposition to the proposal said it was unnecessary.
The plan also calls for security upgrades and the addition of a multipurpose activities center at the high school.
Construction would begin next year as part of the plan.
