ELKINS, W.Va. (AP) — Dr. Michael Mihalyo Jr. has announced plans to leave Davis & Elkins College after serving as president for the past two years.
Multiple media outlets report Mihalyo has been named president of the Appalachian College Association.
Mihaylo, who has worked at the college for four years, will take up his new duties in Richmond on July 1.
Mihaylo says the decision to leave the college was not an easy one, but that the opportunity to serve in his new role was one he cannot let pass.
The college held a specially called meeting on Saturday morning to accept Mihaylo's resignation.
June Myles, chair of the school's board of trustees, says the school is grateful for Michael's leadership.
The trustees also authorized appointment of a presidential succession committee.
