SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Diego Chargers have selected Texas State cornerback Craig Mager in the third round of the NFL draft.

Mager became the first Bobcat to play in the East-West Shrine Game and made an impression with scouts by doing well covering bigger receivers. He is 5-foot-11, 190 pounds.

Mager was one of two Texas State players invited to the combine. He was a 2014 All-Sun Belt Conference second-team. He had 63 tackles, three interceptions and two sacks last season.

He was taken with the 83rd pick overall.
