SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Officials at Indiana University South Bend are working to increase security on campus after a rise in reported sexual assaults.
The South Bend Tribune (http://bit.ly/1zqIz0L ) reports four sexual assaults have been reported on or near the school's campus this academic year, and three have not been solved. Reports from campus police say no sexual assaults were reported in 2013 or 2012, and one was reported on campus in 2011.
Measures to improve security at on-campus housing include adding lighting and trimming shrubs. The school is also looking for funding from Indiana University for security cameras and a fence.
Indiana University South Bend official Susan Lee says students are encouraged to report assaults and sexual misconduct.
