CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers are considering a bill that would limit lawsuit payouts for uninsured drivers involved in crashes. The measure would allow uninsured Nevada drivers to collect only financial damages related to medical and property costs and would prevent them from collecting noneconomic payouts like compensation for pain and suffering. If the bill passes, Nevada would join 10 other states in enacting such legislation.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Washoe County sheriff's detectives say a Spanish Springs man apparently shot and killed two strangers after they confronted him and his elderly father outside their home north of Reno over the weekend. A Washoe County sheriff's spokesman says the father also was shot during the confrontation. He says the father has been hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. No charges have been filed.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Mariah Carey is getting ready to make a grand entrance to celebrate her Las Vegas Strip debut that will bring her chart-topping hits to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The pop icon is appearing at the casino-hotel to celebrate her 18-show residency called "Mariah #1 to Infinity." It starts May 6 with dates through July. Tickets for Carey's show are priced from $55 to $250.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A 40-year-old Carson City man has died from injuries he suffered in a single-car crash over the weekend on South Carson Street. The Nevada Highway Patrol says Matthew Arnold had died at a Reno hospital. Troopers say an investigation is continuing and it's possible drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
