LAS VEGAS (AP) — An 11-year-old is in custody at a juvenile detention center after accidentally firing a stolen handgun at a Las Vegas school. No one was hurt. Authorities tell the Las Vegas Sun newspaper that the student fired the gun this week as he reached into a backpack, shooting a hole in a desk.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Three people are being detained following an early morning stabbing on the Las Vegas Strip. The Las Vegas Sun reports that the victim called police just after midnight to say he was stabbed near Spring Mountain Road and Las Vegas Boulevard. Information about his condition has not been made public.
SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Sparks police have arrested a man, saying he tried to steal a car with a 13-year-old girl in the back seat. The girl's father called 911 about 7:30 a.m. yesterday. Several responded and found the girl getting out of the car unharmed. They say she fought with the suspect, forcing him to abandon his plan.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — A late season storm blowing in from the north has triggered a winter weather advisory in the Sierra, where several inches of snow is expected at Lake Tahoe tomorrow and up to a foot in the upper elevations. The weather service says chain restrictions are likely on Interstate 80.
