MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota is beefing up its frontcourt with the addition of Illinois State transfer Reggie Lynch.
The Golden Gophers announced on Wednesday that Lynch has decided to come back and play for his hometown school. Lynch is from the Minneapolis suburb of Edina.
The 6-foot-10 Lynch averaged 9.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.8 blocks as a sophomore last year. He was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference second team. He will eventually help a Gophers frontcourt that is losing big men Mo Walker and Elliot Eliason to graduation.
Lynch will have to sit out next season due to NCAA transfer rules. But he will have two years of eligibility remaining when he resumes playing for the 2016-17 season.
