KATHMANDU, Nepal (AP) — A former U.S. Marine from Boise who lost his right leg and several fingers in an explosion in Afghanistan is making a second attempt to scale Mount Everest to inspire others like him. Charlie Linville's attempt comes a year after an avalanche that killed 16 Sherpa guides stopped him at the base camp. Linville is using a specially designed metal foot outfitted with a climbing boot in his quest.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A Nampa man charged with killing a former Arizona power company executive, his wife and their adult son at a Boise home last month still hasn't entered a plea. Three counts of first-degree murder as well as robbery and other charges were read to 22-year-old Adam Dees. His next court appearance is May 14.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Nuclear officials have told a citizen's advisory board that a minor accident last year temporarily shut down work at a cleanup site in eastern Idaho and exposed a staffer to low levels of radiation. The worker was exposed to a small amount radiation, but not enough cause health problems.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Gov. Butch Otter has vetoed a bill that would have allowed kids with severe forms of epilepsy to treat the disease with oil extracted from marijuana plants. Otter wrote that he sympathizes with the families coping with the debilitating impacts of severe seizure disorders. But the governor said he believes the outcomes of patients using the oil are more speculative than scientific.
