SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Real Salt Lake forward Jeff Cunningham missed what looked like a sure thing in the first minute of play, and Real got no better opportunity the rest of the way in a zero-to-zero tie with Chivas U-S-A tonight at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
It was the sixth game in a row that the Goats have earned a least a point. They have two wins and four ties since they last lost to Dallas in early June.
For Real Salt Lake, it was another tie for a team that has lost three of its last four. R-S-L is on the road for its next two weeks, at Los Angeles and New England.
R-S-L had U-S national team member Eddie Pope back from the World Cup, but he was substituted out at the half for defender Nelson Akwari. Pope, who is nursing a bad back, was listed as probable before the game.
Real's Jason Kreis and Jamie Watson had good chances against goalkeeper Preston Burpo in the closing minutes.
