MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) — McComb School Board member Chris Richardson has stepped aside after finishing a five-year term.

Richardson, the only elected member on the five-person board, represented residents who live outside the city limits but within the school district lines.

In a statement Monday, Richardson told The Enterprise-Journal (http://bit.ly/1yoLCG2 ) she sent her resignation notice to board president Susan Hedges and will be moving outside the district making her ineligible to continue in the position.

Richardson, a Methodist minister and mother of three children, won election in March 2010.

Qualifying for the seat begins Aug. 5. The position will be on the Nov. 3 ballot.

The McComb city board will appoint an interim trustee until then.
