LEADORE, Idaho (AP) — Officials say the Lemhi County sheriff shot a rancher in the wrist after the rancher threatened him with a gun.
The Lemhi County Sheriff's Office tells KIFI-TV (http://bit.ly/1DfvxCJ) that Sheriff Lynn Bowerman shot rancher Blair Kauer at about noon Monday after responding to the Leadore area on reports Kauer threatened several individuals with a gun.
Police say Bowerman and Chief Deputy Steve Penner tried to pull Kauer over when they spotted him on a back road but Kauer didn't stop until reaching his home.
Authorities say Kauer threatened Bowerman with a loaded .22-caliber rifle and that Bowerman fired one shot.
Kauer was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Kauer is facing potential charges of felony aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and felony eluding a peace officer.
