TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — UConn junior Breanna Stewart has won the 2015 Wade Trophy Award.
The Women's Basketball Coaches Association presented the award to Stewart Saturday on the Final Four court in front of fans attending the teams' open practices.
Stewart has led the Huskies to two straight national championships and has UConn two wins away from a second title three-peat.
She's the sixth Huskies player to win the award, joining Rebecca Lobo, Jen Rizzotti, Sue Bird, Diana Tarausi and Maya Moore — the only three-time winner.
Odyssey Sims of Baylor won the award last year.
The award is named after Lily Margaret Wade, coach of three-time national champion Delta State University. It recognizes the best women's player who not only excels athletically, but serves as a role model on and off the court.
