(KSL News) -- An ingredient in common pain relievers could cause a false alarm in a common blood test.
Researchers say acetaminophen, best known as it is sold under the brand name Tylenol, can trigger an abnormal result in a common liver blood test.
The high liver enzyme level is not dangerous, but could cause your doctor to take you off another drug to try to normalize the enzyme levels.
That drug may be far more important to your health than the acetaminophen.
Researchers say the best thing to do is let your doctor know if you are taking any medication.
