PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) — A northern Nevada sheriff's deputy has been arrested on charges that he pointed a gun at his wife during a domestic dispute. The Nye County Sheriff's office says Andrew Denning of Pahrump was arrested and faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, child endangerment and domestic battery.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Friends of a man killed hang-gliding accident along with an 11-year-old boy say he was an expert in the sport. Ron Peck, president of a Las Vegas hang gliding club, said Saturday he was trained by Jonathan "Kelly" Harrison. The 55-year-old was killed along with 11-year-old Arys Moorhead of Farmington, New Mexico, after their hang glider crashed during a tandem flight.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Police say an 11-year-old boy is being treated for serious head injuries after he fell off a moving vehicle in Carson City. Authorities believe the boy was standing on the running boards of an SUV driven by a relative as the driver left a family gathering yesterday. The child was thrown off the car and hit his head on the pavement.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say 16 people have been driven from their homes after a fire at a northwest Reno apartment complex. The blaze started about 11 a.m. Saturday. Most of the damage was contained to that apartment, but others had smoke damage and eight units were unlivable.
