ORLAND PARK, Ill. (AP) — Two people have reached a settlement with a suburban Chicago library in an ongoing dispute that started with complaints about pornography.
Megan Fox and Kevin DuJan raised the issue of adults viewing pornography on computers at the Orland Park Public Library in fall of 2013. They have pushed since then to change library policies permitting unfiltered Internet access for adults.
They filed dozens of public records requests seeking documents, and filed two lawsuits claiming the library violated the state's Freedom of Information Act. The library denies allegations that it violated transparency laws.
The Chicago Tribune reports (http://trib.in/199YhAs) the settlement includes a $55,000 payment to the pair and their attorneys. The agreement also establishes procedures for the library providing certain records monthly to Fox and DuJan.
