NEW YORK (AP) — The NFL's competition committee is going to propose some significant changes to the use of video replay at next week's owners meetings in Phoenix. Among the proposals is one by the Lions that would permit the instant replay system to correct an officiating error such as judgment calls on pass interference. Other proposals include moving the extra point attempt to the 15-yard line and guaranteeing both teams a possession in overtime even if one scores a touchdown on its first drive.
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — There's another night of basketball in Dayton, Ohio, this evening. The first of the two NCAA Tournament games has North Florida facing Robert Morris while the second features Boise State against the University of Dayton. It's against NCAA rules for a school to play on its home floor in the NCAA Tournament, except for games in the First Four, which tonight's game is.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Syracuse University has announced that Jim Boeheim (BAY'-hym) is retiring. In three years. The move comes in the wake of a scathing NCAA report that imposed sanctions against his program.
OAKLAND (AP) — The top teams in the NBA are meeting tonight as the Warriors entertain the Hawks. Golden State is No. 1 in the West with a record of 53-13 while the Hawks lead the East with 53 wins and 14 defeats. Klay Thompson will miss the game for the Warriors while Kyle Korver is out for the Hawks.
DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) — Pitcher Alex Cobb of the Rays has tendinitis in his right forearm and is expected to miss his planned opening-day start against Baltimore on April 6. Cobb felt tightness in the arm while in the bullpen before a game Tuesday and had an MRI after the outing.
