TORONTO (AP) — Jeffrey Orridge is the new commissioner of the Canadian Football League.
The CFL made the announcement on Tuesday. The longtime executive recently served as the executive director of CBC Sports. He succeeds Mark Cohon, who stepped down in January after an eight-year run as league commissioner.
Orridge, who also handled management duties for the CBC's Olympics coverage, has overseen rights acquisitions, partnership management and revenue initiatives. He successfully helped secure the media rights to the 2014 and 2016 Olympic Games, the 2015 Pan Am Games and the 2018 and 2020 Olympics for the network.
Orridge will take over on April 29, becoming the 13th commissioner of the league.
