LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Former Louisville basketball player Chris Jones appeared in court briefly for a hearing on rape and sodomy charges.
Jones waived the Monday proceeding, meaning a grand jury will hear the charges against him and decide whether he should face a trial.
University of Louisville police say the allegations against Jones involve two women at a private apartment off campus the night on Feb. 22. Two other men charged in the case also waived hearings Monday.
Jones was charged Feb. 26, and pleaded not guilty. His lawyer says he was falsely accused.
University officials say 23-year-old Jones was kicked off the team because he missed curfew after leading Louisville to a comeback win over Miami on Feb. 22, the same day the attacks are said to have occurred.
