LOS ANGELES (AP) — It's another death-defying feat for actor Harrison Ford, this time without a stunt man or cameras rolling. The action-adventure star crash-landed his vintage plane Thursday on a golf course after it lost engine power. He had just taken off from the Santa Monica Airport. A publicist for the "Indiana Jones" and "Star Wars" star says Ford is expected to make a full recovery.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey says a police officer who was gunned down Thursday during a robbery attempt was one of the best the city had to offer. Police say the officer and his partner exchanged gunfire with two robbery suspects at a video game store. One of the suspects was wounded. A second suspect is also in custody.
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Police in South Korea are investigating the background of an anti-U.S. activist who knifed the U.S. ambassador to South Korea on Thursday. BEIJING (AP) — Authorities in southern China say nine people have been attacked at a train station by two assailants armed with knives. It happened in the city of Guangzhou (gwahng-joh). PHILADELPHIA (AP) — State highway officials in Kentucky say the interstates that were clogged with thousands of cars and trucks trapped by deep snow are open again. Crews have been putting down material to prevent refreezing. Some people had to be rescued by National Guard troops. Forecasters are warning that a wide swath of the country stretching into the South will have extreme cold overnight.
