FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Cane Broome scored 21 points while Phil Gaetano and De'von Barnett had double-doubles to lead Sacred Heart to an 84-73 win over LIU Brooklyn on Saturday.

Gaetano had 15 points and 10 assists, Barnett had 11 points and 11 rebounds and Tevin Falzon added 16 points for the Pioneers (15-16, 9-9 Northeast Conference). Four different players combined to go 8 of 8 from the foul line in the last 90 as Sacred Heart made 16 of 22 free throws in the second half.

Martin Hermannsson scored 16 points and Elvar Fridriksson had 14 for the Blackbirds (12-17, 8-10), who lost their third straight.

Broome hit a 3-pointer to give him 11 first-half points and Sacred Heart, which shot 50 percent, held a 41-39 lead at the break.

Brooklyn scored the first eight points of the second but Sacred Heart scored the next six. The Blackbirds were up 57-54 when Falzon had the last four in a 9-0 run for a 63-57 lead with 4:50 left.
