LOVINGTON, N.M. (AP) — The Lovington schools chief has resigned after leading the southeastern New Mexico district for just a year.
The Hobbs News-Sun reports (http://goo.gl/Rqn2wU) that Superintendent Darin Manes submitted his resignation this week after a special executive session by school board.
Board president Ronnie Reeder said in a statement that Manes will immediately transfer to an administrator consultant position and resign from the district on June 30. He says both Manes and the school board agreed to part ways.
Manes declined to comment.
In February 2013, the school board voted 3-2 to appoint Manes as superintendent over former Lovington High School Principal Robert Brown.
Brown later was placed on administrative leave and his contract was not renewed for the following school year.
