HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — The New York Red Bulls have signed forward Mike Grella and waived midfielder Ian Christianson.
Grella made the team after a tryout during the team's first preseason trip to Orlando, Florida. The 28-year-old who played at Duke and spent last year with the Carolina RailHawks of the second-tier North American Soccer League. He has played in Europe with Leeds, Carlisle, Swindon, Brentford, Bury, Scunthorpe and Denmark's Viborg.
Christianson was drafted by the Red Bulls in the second round n 2013. His only league action last season was as a substitute in a win over Seattle.
The Major League Soccer team announced the moves on Tuesday.
