SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Mormon man who runs a website for church members questioning their faith he expects to be excommunicated based the tenor of a disciplinary hearing Sunday night, but he may not find out for days. John Dehlin said his four-hour hearing in North Logan was difficult, sad and at times heart-wrenching. The church says a decision will be made in the coming days.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Utah woman who worked in the North Dakota oil fields has filed a federal lawsuit accusing her former employer of gender discrimination and equal pay violations. Cindy Marchello of Ogden started working as a pump operator for Texas-based C&J Energy Services Inc. in October 2012. She says her manager later gave her a desk job because it was "too dangerous" and "too cold" for her in the field. The company declined comment on the lawsuit.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah Senate bill that would require high school students to pass the U.S. citizenship test in order to graduate has cleared its first hurdle at the state legislature. The proposal would require students to answer 70 out of 100 questions correctly, rather than the six out of 10 questions required for new citizens.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Gordon Hayward scored 25 of his 32 points in the second half, and the Utah Jazz overcame a 14-point, third-quarter deficit to beat the New Orleans Pelicans 100-96 last night. Derrick Favors scored 18 and Enes Kanter had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Utah, which won its second straight while handing the Pelicans their second straight loss.
