BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — Joshua Braun scored 20 points, and Ryan Majerle added a career-high 19 to help Grand Canyon slip past Cal State-Bakersfield 78-76 on Saturday night.

Majerle made 7 of 9 field goals, including five 3-pointers, the last of which came with 1:01 to play, giving Grand Canyon (14-11, 5-1 Western Athletic Conference) the lead for good at 73-70.

Aly Ahmed made back-to-back buckets to give Bakersfield (9-15, 4-4) a two-point lead with 2:52 left.

After a 3 by Majerle made it 68-67, Ahmed converted a three-point play. Grand Canyon's DeWayne Russell then hit a pair of free throws to spark a 9-0 run which ended with the Antelopes leading 77-70 with 10 seconds left.

Russell finished with 17 points and seven assists while Daniel Alexander added 13 points for Grand Canyon, which made 18 of 21 free throws while Bakersfield converted 14 of 23 from the stripe.

Ahmed led five Bakersfield players in double figures with 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
