LORMAN, Miss. (AP) — Kaven Bernard scored 15 points and grabbed four rebounds as Jackson State beat Alcorn State 64-61 on Saturday night.
Yettra Specks added 10 points for the Tigers (7-16, 5-5 Southwest Athletic Conference). Raeford Worsham pulled down 11 rebounds with eight points. Javeres Brent had nine points and five rebounds. The team hit 44.4 percent from the field — including sinking 7 of 16 (43.8 percent) from distance — and 56.3 percent from the line.
Jackson State led 33-27 at the break but Alcorn State went on a 20-8 run to start the second half to take a 47-41 lead with 12:57 to play. The Tigers battled back four minutes later to tie it up 49-49 on a Specks 3-pointer and took a 62-59 lead on a Treshawn Bolden layup with 4:05 remaining.
Tyrel Hunt led the Braves (4-18, 3-7) with 15 points and six rebounds.
