Inmate from Washoe County dies in prison

INDIAN SPRINGS, Nev. (AP) — An inmate serving time for a drug offense in Washoe County has died at a southern Nevada prison.

Department of Corrections officials say 60-year-old Dale Prater died Thursday at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs.

The Clark County coroner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine his cause of death.

Prater had been serving a 12- to 30-month sentence since May 2014. He was convicted of possession of a controlled substance for sale.
