Gardner-Webb streaks past Campbell 73-65 in overtime

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) — Jerome Hill had 24 points and a career-high 20 rebounds and Gardner-Webb opened overtime on an 11-0 run to beat Campbell 73-65 on Friday night.

Hill scored eight and Harold McBride had seven of his 20 points during overtime. After Hill's layup gave Gardner-Webb (16-9, 8-4 Big South) a 65-54 lead with 1:29 left, Campbell (9-16, 3-9) got no closer than 70-65 on Andrew Ryan's 3-pointer with 20 seconds left.

Gardner-Webb also closed the second half on a 10-1 run capped by Tyler Strange's layup sent with 12 seconds left to send the game to overtime tied at 54.

D.J. Mason had 16 points, Andrew Ryan scored 15 and Kyre' Hamer added 14 for Campbell. The Camels extended to a 10-point lead four times during the second half.

Hill shot 14 of 21 from the foul line and had nine offensive rebounds. He surpassed the 19 rebounds he had on Dec. 13 against Furman for his personal best.
