WEST JORDAN, Utah (AP) — A West Jordan man is in jail, facing kidnapping and rape charges after prosecutors say he assaulted a woman and kept her hostage for three days.
Court documents filed Thursday say the woman was visiting 50-year-old Patrick Raymond Yazzie in January when he began drinking. Police say he attacked her with a hammer, raped her and carried her back to his home when she tried to leave.
Prosecutors say the woman was able to call her mother, who took her to the hospital.
Yazzie is being held at Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping, rape and aggravated assault.
No attorney was listed for Yazzie in court records Friday and a message left at a phone number listed under his name was not immediately returned.
