WASHINGTON (AP) — An elementary school teacher in the District of Columbia has been arrested on a misdemeanor charge of sex abuse of a child.
The Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of 33-year-old Leroy Ware of northeast Washington late Thursday. Ware teaches at Miner Elementary School in northeast Washington.
A police report about the arrest says the child is a boy, but does not specify his age. It's also unclear whether the boy attends Miner Elementary.
No attorneys are listed for Ware in online court records.
A misdemeanor sex abuse charge typically involves touching, rather than a sex act.
