SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah state lawmakers considering a sexual consent law are debating whether sex with an unconscious spouse constitutes rape. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Republican Rep. Brian Greene said he feared the law would let prosecutors charge a man with sexual assault for having sex with his wife while she's unconscious. Greene said sex with an unconscious person on a first date shouldn't be allowed, but it's different for long-term relationships.

MURRAY, Utah (AP) — Fire officials believe a welding spark caused a two-alarm blaze that injured a shop owner and gutted a mechanic shop in Murray. Fire officials tell KSL a man was treated at University Hospital after firefighters called last night found flames burning through the roof of the building near I-15 and 4500 South. A neighboring church and a nearby business also were damaged.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A northern Utah woman will likely serve the maximum five-year prison sentence for her role in death of a teenage baby sitter after night of sex and drugs. The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole decided yesterday that Dea Millerberg will serve the full sentence, though they may consider early release if she completes drug treatment.

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Derrick Marks scored 23 points and James Webb III added 18 to lead Boise State past Utah State 68-63 Tuesday evening. The win snapped an 18-game losing streak in the Smith Spectrum for Boise State and extends its conference win streak to six games. USU was led by David Collette with 17 points, Chris Smith with 16 and Jalen Moore 15.
