CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The state House of Representatives has rejected a proposal that would have created the Wyoming Council for Education.

House Bill 147 would have tasked the council with identifying "a common vision for Wyoming's public education system for preschool through post-secondary education."

But the Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports that opponents said there are already enough people and groups guiding education policies in the state.

The bill died on a 31-28 floor vote.
