MILAN (AP) — Juventus allowed Sebastian Giovinco to join Toronto ahead of the Major League Soccer season.
Giovinco was due to join the Canadian team in July, after his Juventus contract expired, but the Serie A champions said Monday, on the final day of the transfer window, that the 5-foot-4 forward had been transferred immediately.
Giovinco, 28, joins a team that also added American forward Jozy Altidore during the offseason to join U.S. midfielder Michael Bradley, who signed in January 2014.
Juventus reacquired Alessandro Matri on loan from AC Milan.
