NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) — A.J. English scored 21 points and made two clutch plays in the closing seconds of regulation and Iona scored the last seven points of overtime from the foul line to beat St. Peter's 68-61 to stay on top of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Association standings.

English got the Gaels (16-6, 9-2) into overtime by stealing an inbounds pass and hitting a 3-pointer from the left corner with 8 seconds to go and, after Marvin Dominique made one of two free throws with 7.1 seconds left, finding a wide open Kelvin Amayo under the basket to tie the game at 57 at the buzzer.

After Quadir Welton scored with 2:51 left to tie the game at 61, the Peacocks (10-13, 6-9) missed their last six shots while Iona was clutch at the line.

After the final buzzer English and Desi Washington, who led St. Peter's with 18 points, were in the middle of a scrum that had all players milling around but it appeared no punches were thrown.

David Laury added 18 points and 13 rebounds for Iona and Dominique had 17 and 10 for St. Peter's.
