LAS VEGAS (AP) — A record 41.1 million visitors descended on Las Vegas last year. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority says that number is up 3.7 percent from 39.7 million in 2013. Of those, 5.2 million visitors attended one or more of the 22,103 conventions held last year. Both figures are up compared with the year prior.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Gov. Brian Sandoval and Attorney General Adam Laxalt have talked about an immigration lawsuit Laxalt filed earlier this week, and the suit is moving forward in spite of protests. Laxalt announced that Nevada would join 25 other states in a lawsuit challenging President Barack Obama's executive order aimed at shielding millions from deportation. Several dozen people protested outside Laxalt's Las Vegas office on Wednesday.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The former owner of a Reno shooting range faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges that he illegally sold handguns and machine guns with obliterated serial numbers to undercover agents. James Harwin, a federally licensed firearm dealer, sold ATF agents a Street Sweeper shotgun and three machine guns, and grinded the serial number off one of the guns in their presence.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Justice Department has charged a Las Vegas man with fraud for taking more than $3 million in fees from clients promised business loans that didn't materialize. The U.S. Attorney in Nevada announced it charged Ronald Morgan with 13 counts of wire fraud. Morgan pleaded not guilty and was released on bond.
