QUITO, Ecuador (AP) — Gustavo Quinteros has been hired to coach Ecuador to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Ecuador Football Federation president Luis Chiriboga made the announcement on Friday.
Quinteros is expected to take over in March.
Reinaldo Rueda was fired after Ecuador was eliminated in the first round of last year's World Cup, and replaced on an interim basis by Sixto Vizuete.
Quinteros has been coaching Ecuador club Emelec.
