LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A weekend conference in Lansing will give veterinarians from across Michigan an opportunity to learn about the latest medical techniques and network with colleagues.

The event begins Friday and ends Sunday at the Lansing Center. It's sponsored by the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association and Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine.

Chief executive Karlene Belyea of the veterinary medical association says the conference will provide more than 130 hours of continuing education to members and will feature 100 exhibitors.

About 1,500 veterinarians, technicians, students and veterinary hospital staffers usually attend. Sessions deal with topics such as animal surgery, handling, nutrition and emergency care.
