CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Javonte Green scored 22 points and R.J. Price scored 20 — each with key free throws down the stretch — as Radford held off Charleston Southern 84-77 for its sixth straight win on Wednesday night.
The six-game streak is a first for Radford (15-7, 6-3 Big South) since 2008-09 and the team's first under coach Mike Jones.
Saah Nimley and Arlon Harper nailed back-to-back 3-pointers that pulled Charleston Southern (12-8, 6-3) within a point at 74-73 with 2:03 left, prompting a Radford timeout. Price came out of the huddle to score a crucial 3 with 1:26 remaining.
Ya Ya Anderson, Green and Price combined for the next six points at the line, putting the game away.
Radford and Charleston Southern are in a knot of several teams trailing leader High Point (7-2) in the Big South.
Nimley led the Buccaneers with 26 points. Harper and Will Saunders scored 13 each.
