CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Olympic bronze medalist skier Jan Hudec has undergone knee surgery and will not race in the world championships next month in Beaver Creek, Colorado.
The 33-year-old Canadian tore cartilage in a downhill Dec. 19 in Val Gardena, Italy. Canada's Alpine skiing organization says he had arthroscopic surgery Thursday in Canada.
It was the eighth knee operation and seventh on his right knee. Team doctor Stephen French says the goal is for Hudec to compete again next season.
Hudec tied for third in the super-G at the Sochi Games last year — his country's first Olympic Alpine ski medal in two decades.
